Biography
Born in Tehran, Iran and growing up in Sweden, Shahryar Rumi started playing the piano at the age of 11 and has become a Persian pop artist.
Shahryar’s love for the arts does not stop with music. His interest in architectural monuments resulted in him earning a degree in architectural design and business from a highly respected university in Miami, Florida — yet he never took his eyes off of his inner passion for music.
In 2002, while working in his professional field of architectural designs in Southern California, Shahryar signed a contract with Hassan Shamaizadeh, one of the most respected songwriters and producers of Persian pop music.
2004
First Album
In 2004, Shahryar’s debut album, Aghaze Shirin (The Sweet Beginning) was released. Shahryar found his place in the Persian music industry shortly after this first album thanks to his classy music and silky-strong voice. He started working on his second album immediately.
2005
Second Album
In 2005, Shahryar released his second album by the name of Parseh with the collaboration of the best lyricists, songwriters, and arrangers.
2006
Third Album
In 2006, Shahryar released his third album by the name of Naji (Savior).
2008
Fourth Album
In 2006, Shahryar released his third album by the name of Naji (Savior).
2011
Fifth Album
In 2011, Shahryar’s fifth album Mojezeh (Miracle) was released. It is a breakthrough album in the Persian pop music industry since the 1979 Iranian revolution.
2013
Sixth Album
In 2013, Shahryar’s sixth album Dolate Eshgh (The State of Love) was released.
2018
Seventh Album
In 2018, Shahryar’s seventh album Faghat Nafas (Only Breath) was released. This work is based on the collection of Rumi’s poems from Ghazaliat Shams, which enhances the listener’s knowledge of the ideology of Rumi and the nation of love.
2019
Eight Album
In the summer of 2019, Shahryar’s eighth album Zemzemehee Dar Bahar (A Whisper in the Spring) was released. This is the collection of Fereidoon Moshiri’s most famous love, patriotic and spiritual poems, such as The Alley, Ascension, and My Roots.
Nineth Album
2023
In 2023, Shahryar released the double album "You Are the Light," a 21-song spiritual exploration.
Blending music and poetry, the album journeys through devotion, love, and self-discovery.
The melodies inspired by Rumi, Hafiz, Moshiri, and Anahita embody timeless wisdom, exemplified by the song "Iman."
"Iman" unifies mystic voices across centuries, highlighting faith and surrender as paths to beauty.
"You Are the Light" invites deep listening to awaken inner radiance and provide a sense of homecoming.
Shahryar's Latest Concert Tour
The Tale of Rumi concert series is written, directed and performed by Shahryar, featuring a 20 piece orchestra, where you will experience the immersion of Eastern spiritual philosophy merging with western fusion-style music. The Tale of Rumi concert series is inspired by the life of the great poet and philosopher Rumi. Shahryar’s modern and westernized style of music delivers Rumi’s message, which has touched the hearts of millions of people from all walks of life by spreading the message of love.
To date, Shahryar has performed in most major cities from Paris to Los Angeles.
